ISLAMABAD:
A local court on Saturday sent a retired army officer, who was arrested on fraud and forgery charges, on a 14-day judicial remand. The Federal Investigation Agency arrested colonel (retd) Syed Irshad Ali on May 12 and booked him under Sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 468 (forgery) of the Pakistan Penal Code. The agency obtained a four-day physical remand of the suspect from Senior Civil Judge (West) Abdul Ghafoor Kakar on May 13. However, on Saturday, the FIA told the court that the suspect has recorded his statement before an executive magistrate and sought his further remand, which was granted.
