Two people were injured in a hit-and-run accident with a police vehicle on Samundari Road on Tuesday.
Akhtar Ali, who claimed to have witnessed the accident from across the road, told The Express Tribune that the vehicle was speeding when the driver lost control and ran over the passersby who were later identified as Arslan, 22, and Saleem, 30.
The injured were taken to a nearby hospital by people who gathered there following the accident.
A demonstration was staged and Samundri Road blocked for traffic by people who had gathered there. They condemned the police.
The protesters dispersed after a team from Dijkot station assured them that action would be taken against those responsible for the accident.

The Dijkot SHO said that no complaint had yet been lodged with the police for the purpose. He said an FIR would be registered after a complaint was received. “I have learnt that the driver of the van had dozed off and lost control,” he said.
