KARACHI: Defending champion Nasir Iqbal defeated third seed Farhan Zaman 3-0 in 50 minutes at the Men’s FMC International 2015 at the Punjab Squash Complex in Lahore.
Last edition’s winner Nasir will now face former Pakistan number one Aamir Atlas in the final on Monday in a bid to defend his crown.
Amir, the second seed in the competition, defeated Farhan Mehboob 3-1 in the other semi-final.
Amir took the first game 11-7 but lost focus in the second as Mehboob levelled the match 10-12. However, Amir bounced back to seal the win in the next two games 12-10, 11-9.
According to Pakistan Squash Federation secretary Amir Nawaz, the tournament has provided an opportunity for the players to earn international ranking points, while the prize money of $15,000 is motivating as well.
“It’s been a great tournament as the players are getting more opportunities,” said Nawaz. “So far all the players have performed well, and we are expecting a great show in the final with two of our best players vying for the title.”
