Torrential rains: 22 killed in rain related incidents in parts of K-P

PESHAWAR: As many as 22 people were killed and over 100 injured in rain related incidents in the provincial capital Peshawar and parts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Sunday evening.

According to details, at least 22 people were killed and over 100 injured due to roof cave-ins and other rain related incidents as thundershowers coupled with gusty winds hit Peshawar, Charsadda and surrounding areas. Three rooms also collapsed in Wahid Garhi area on Charsadda Road, burying a family underneath. So far six bodies have been recovered from the rubble including five children and a mother, said Lady Reading Hospital spokesperson Jamil Shah.

The meteorological department has predicted that the rains and thunderstorms would last for another 24 hours.

Emergency has been imposed in Lady Reiding Hospital, Peshawar.
