KARACHI: A day after reports of the arrest of a key suspect of Amjad Sabri’s murder case were doing the rounds on TV outlets, MQM in an urgent press conference on Sunday, termed the development as a conspiracy against the party.
Party leader Gulfraz Khan Khattak said the practice of the targeting the MQM had started again.
Citing past examples, Khattak warned the authorities concerned to take immediate notice or the “reactions could be disastrous”.
He said it seemed as if Sabri had been assassinated just to blame the MQM and start an operation against it.
Amjad Sabri’s killer reportedly arrested
Praising the police chief who said no pictures of the ‘suspect’ were provided to the media, Khattak requested the media to practice responsible journalism.
According to reports, Imran Siddiqui, a worker of a political party and an employee of District Municipal Corporation, was arrested during a raid in Surjani Town on Saturday. Reports say that Siddiqui confessed to the killing and revealed the names of his companions.
