Malakand Division has the highest number of people with disabilities. This was mentioned in a survey conducted by the social welfare department and Provincial Disaster Management Authority.
The survey was published on Friday. “We have over 112,000 people with disabilities in the province, out of which 54,623 are men, 29,409 women and 27,981 are children,” PDMA Spokesperson Latifur Rehman said.
“We have 66,000 people with physical disabilities, 14,000 people who cannot see, 15,000 with speech and hearing impairment and the same number with mental health problems.”
He added people with disabilities suffered most during natural calamities.
