BUNER: Two women stated to be relatives were shot dead on Monday in the name of honour in a village of Chagharzai in Buner district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. An official of the Gulbandai police station, Imran Khan, told The Express Tribune that Roohi Rahman, the father of one of the victims Mushahira, said his nephew Zafeer had killed the two women on the pretext of honour. Rahman told the police that Mushahira and Hassana had been out of their house at night and when they returned Zafeer opened fire at them with a Kalashnikov. The man fled after killing the two women. A formal FIR has been registered against the suspect on the complaint of Rahman and efforts are under way to arrest him. A law ministry report tabled in the National Assembly last month stated that 933 people were killed across the country in the name of honour during the past two years with the majority of the cases (602) reported in Sindh.
