We met up with art gallery owner Sanam Taseer in her tastefully designed house and asked about her favourite space. No surprise that it was her welcoming, sunny, eclectic tv lounge!

On a cold foggy winter morning we headed over to Sanam’s beautiful house. A bright red gate gave us a hint of the owner’s individuality.

As soon as we went past the glass door, we could see Sanam’s love for paintings and art exhibited through out the house. We were taken to her favourite space in the house, which was her television room.

The room had a warm fuzzy feel to it; there were large open windows without any curtains or blinds that overlooked the beautiful back yard. Sanam went on to explain that she had lived in a basement before and it had driven her crazy not knowing whether it was day or night. It couldn’t be a more different story now.

The most interesting bit was the white kitchen counter right in the middle of the room with a working stove. Sanam told us that she and her husband host many dinner parties, where all the friends, as close-knit as a family, get together, bringing their own ingredients and cooking various dishes.

“Everything I need is in here; the sofa, my books, the television and — the best part — I can cook in here too.”

“Feels like I am lying outside in the sun.”

Sanam told us the room was entirely designed by her. She went crazy on Pinterest, along with a combination of architects that she bossed and ordered around!

The room was full of quirky statement pieces, some of which Sanam had designed herself and some that she found from various junkshops. Truly an art aficionado’s space!
