7 workers killed as roof of factory collapses in Lahore

LAHORE: At least seven people were killed when a factory roof collapsed in the industrial area of Lahore on Wednesday.

The incident occurred in a three-storey building of a shopping bag manufacturing factory in Sundar Industrial Estate when its under-construction roof collapsed.

According to Edhi rescue workers at the site, more than 40 labourers are still under the debris and so far seven dead bodies have been taken out of the rubble.

An official of the Edhi foundation told The Express Tribune the cries for help from under the debris could be heard at the site.

Two floors of the building were operational while the third was under construction, the worker added.

DCO Lahore Capt (retired) Muhammad Usman said more than 150 labourers were working in the factory when it caved in.
