ISLAMABAD: Army chief General Raheel Sharif called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday to discuss the country’s overall security situation.
Director-General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi also attended the meeting.
The meeting comes days before Aziz is scheduled to visit New Delhi for talks on August 23.

The national security advisers’ meeting is part of the understanding reached between prime minister Nawaz and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit held in Ufa, Russia in July.
Islamabad is expected to push for foreign secretary level talks with India in the meeting, sources said.
