LAHORE:

All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (Aptma) is set to hold a meeting with the government over the restoration of the sector’s viability on Thursday.

The first meeting will be held with Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Revenue Haroon Akhtar Khan to discuss the viability options including a regionally competitive electricity tariff and zero rating of taxes on imports. Aptma would seek special electricity tariff for the export-oriented textile industry operating on the independent feeders with zero line losses.

The next meeting would be held with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) officials to discuss issues related to the unjustified harassment of taxpayers and early clearance of the stuck up refund claims, informed the Aptma spokesman. He said both committees would finalise recommendations by August 30.
